On 7 January 1908, a murder and suicide took place at Wyola. At the inquest into the two deaths, evidence was given that Bert Hart (22) had shot John McGuigan (late 30s) over a dispute into the loan of a horse. Hart, who had been drinking earlier in the day, then turn the shotgun upon himself1.
